We went on a ghost hunting expedition with Traci and Anthony at the Donovan Mill, and are still talking about it! I was concerned that the 4 hours would be a lot of sitting around with nothing happening, but we had numerous encounters, with “dead” time being filled with information about the history and operation of the mill. The 4 hours went by so quickly and was thoroughly enjoyable, if sometimes a little scary. Only one of us left a non-believer, and even he can’t explain the voice on the recorder that said, “I think so too” when one member of our group said that he thought a dark spot on the floor of the room adjacent to the office was dried blood. We can be skeptics of these things as there are a lot of charlatans out there. But this is not a money making endeavor for them. Our payment for the ghost hunting was just a donation to the Comstock Foundation for the restoration of the mill, and Traci and Anthony were always equally skeptical, trying to first find an scientific/earthly explanation for things. In fact, there is a ghostly figure in one of our photos that they said it is probably just the light coming in from the window combined with dust (and a charlatan would have latched on to our belief that it is a ghost; I’m still not convinced it’s not a ghost though!). Even if you are a diehard skeptic, I promise the night will be fun and, if nothing else, your money is going to a good cause. We look forward to returning to the Reno area for more ghost hunting!
